Georgia Milestones Testing Begins

 

 

Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grader will begin Milestones Testing on Tuesday, April 10th. 

How can you help? Make sure your child:

  • Gets a good night's sleep,
  • Has a good breakfast, and
  • Is on time to school.

Recorder Karate Begins - 3rd, 4th, & 5th Graders

 

 

Mr. Wehr will be starting RECORDER KARATE with our 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students on April 9th and through the last 6 weeks of school. This is a reward-based program in which students advance by successfully performing a set of songs on the recorder. We will be using a soprano recorder for this program. The soprano recorders can be purchased for under 10 dollars. Ken Stanton has their soprano recorders for $7.99 and Walmart has some for as low as $2.44. We hope playing this simple woodwind instrument will be enjoyable for all of the students!

 

 

 

 

 

April 12th Spirit Night - Zaxby's 5 pm - 8 pm

Fine Arts BUILD - Art Day 2018

"When I say artist, I mean the one who is building things... some with a brush, some with a shovel, some choose a pen." -- Jackson Pollock

 

Our biggest event of the year is fast on our heels.  Join us as we "Build" the imaginations of our Sedalia Park children.  Come the whole day or for a few hours to "Build" memories as you help to make the day a success.  We need volunteers throughout the day for art stations, setup, cleanup and more.  Please also donate a case of water - we need a lot of water for our amazing volunteers.

Do you have an artistic flair?  Painters, sculptors, singers, dancers and any other arty-marty is welcomed to share their talents this day.

Thanks, from Student Ambassadors!

 

 

Thank you for donating to the Snuggle Drive we had back in February. We were able to donate over 300 items - 100 items from Sedalia Park and 200 scarves from students at East Side Elementary. All donations have been sent out to those in need! More recently, student ambassadors have been busy writing thank you notes to our Board member, Mr. Banks, welcoming new students to Sedalia Park, and creating motivational posters for the upcoming Georgia Milestone tests.

The WHS Annual Fine Arts Showcase takes place Saturday, December 2nd, at the Wheeler Performing Arts Center. Fall Box Tops for Education Drive

 

Turn in your Box Tops by Friday, October 27th to help your class win a surprise.  

 

Be sure the Box Tops are current and trimmed around the dotted line.  Place Box Tops in a ziploc baggie, with this completed form, and place in the "Box Tops" container located just outside the front office.

 

 

 

Picture Retakes

 

On Friday, October 27th students are able to retake school pictures.  Have your child come with their best smile and the original picture package.  They must turn in the originals in order to have a retake.

Have a fun, safe Trick-o-Treating time! 

Here are a few tips to keep it safe:

 

  • Always look both ways before crossing the road.
  • Walk on sidewalks if available.  If not, walk facing traffic.
  • Trick-or-Treat at homes of friends and people you trust.
  • Carry flashlights so others can see you.
  • Throw out unwrapped candy.
  • Skip the stomach ache and eat your candy over several days instead of all at once.

Foundation Coin Wars

 

Search pockets and shake piggy banks for your “Penny Power”.  Bring in your change to support the Foundation during its Coin Wars of the Grades.  The grade who collects the most will win treat bags for each student in that grade.  Every penny counts!

 

 

 

 

State of the School Address

 

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 as Principal Tiffany Jackson presents the Park community with the state of our school.

 

For your convenience, the school will hold the State of the School Address at two different times, in the morning from 7:30am - 8:30am and in the evening from 6:00pm - 7:00pm, in the School Media Center.

Early Release

 

Thursday, October 12th is an early release day.  School will be closing at 12:20.

 

 

 

 

 

Conference Week

 

Looking ahead, next week from October 16th to October 20th will be conference week. 

 

School will release early at 12:20 each of these days.  Enrichment Programs will not meet this week.  ASP will run from 12:20 until its normal closing time. 

 

Please look for the notice sent home this week from your child’s teacher about your teacher-parent meeting time.

 Chick-fil-A biscuits are back!

 

The Sedalia Park Foundation will be selling biscuits (not sliders!) every Thursday beginning October 5th in the car rider line and at the front ASP desk.

 

Prices are $2.50 for 1 biscuit and $4 for 2 biscuits.
